- Concept Ideation: IFR & Morphological Matrix
- Concept Generation and Controlled Convergence – the use of Zig-Zag design to optimize the system (Pugh Matrix)
- Building Quality into the Design and Process: QFD HOQ 3 and 4
- Design for (Manufacturability, Assembly, Reliability, etc.)
- Basics of Product and Service Reliability
- Robust design decisions: Introduction to Axiomatic Design
